Executive Principal Heads of School
Executive Principal's Welcome
I would like to warmly welcome you to our website which provides us with the perfect platform to showcase the academy.
The website will also provide you with all the latest statutory information required by the government. We hope that this website will give you some insight into the way we work and what we offer.
As the Executive Principal, it is a privilege indeed to lead an outstandingly successful school and work with committed students, staff, parents and governors. As a parent myself, with children currently in school, I fully understand that choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions you will ever have to make. I hope the information contained here will provide you with a flavour of our exceptional academy.
Why choose Moor End Academy?
Moor End is a world class, high performing, and truly inclusive school which welcomes students of all abilities and provides a safe, stimulating and challenging learning environment where students are central to everything we do as an academy.
Our dedicated, enthusiastic and talented staff are ambitious for our students and academy and make certain each child in their care has the best possible opportunities to succeed, whatever their starting point, as we firmly believe it’s our mission to ensure our students strive for the highest standards both academically and socially to enable them to compete in an increasingly competitive world.
Our curriculum is broad and balanced, and we ensure all of our students follow a rigorous, ambitous and challenging curriculum that is designed to prepare them to participate in what is a fast changing and demanding world. Our intention is that our students will follow a curriculum that enables them to excel and exceed at what they thought possible as well as being given the opportunities to explore the world around them locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
We firmly believe that exceptional behaviour in the classroom is essential for outstanding learning and teaching to take place.
As a world class accredited school, we insist on high standards of behaviour, appearance, work ethic and respect for all to enable our staff to teach our students well so they learn to the best of their ability and leave the Academy with a first-class education. When it comes to discipline, we have a traditional approach based upon a very clear set of consequences for unacceptable behaviour that interferes with good order in the Academy. We firmly believe that exceptional behaviour in the classroom is essential for outstanding learning and teaching to take place. Central to the philosophy of our Positive Discipline Policy is the promotion of high expectations with encouragement and to uphold our 3 core values of Respect, Ambition and Responsibility.
At Moor End we also believe in encouraging, rewarding, and reinforcing good behaviour in students, inside and outside the classroom. It is about setting an example of mutual respect within an atmosphere where courtesy and positivity are the norm.
Please do not just take my word for it. To believe this you need to experience it first-hand and we would be delighted for you to see our Academy in action.
If you would like to arrange a tour of the Academy, please contact Miss Susan Smith at email@example.com.
Kash Rafiq | Executive Principal
A message from our co-heads of school
We were really pleased with the recent news of Mr Rafiq’s appointment as Executive Principal for two schools within our Trust (Moor End Academy and Park Lane Academy). This promotion reflects the significant impact his leadership has had on driving standards at MEA over recent years. The good news is that we are not losing Mr Rafiq, rather he will just be leading us all in a different way with his knowledge and expertise shared across two schools.
Like everyone this news led to some hard reflection around what this would mean for MEA and ourselves as leaders. In the end we came to the conclusion that we would like to take on the role as Co-Heads of School. As Vice Principals we have over time always worked effectively together to provide support, and appropriate challenge, so that any strategic decisions were in the best interests of all stakeholders. We recognise that we have contrasting but also complimentary qualities which can support drive and maintain the high standards that we all expect now and into the future.
MEA will be benefiting from two experienced senior leaders who are passionate about continuing to: drive standards in all areas; develop aspirational learners; and improve outcomes year-on-year. We will have clear and defined areas of responsibility so that students, parent/carers, governors and staff are crystal clear who will lead specific
strategic areas. We will maintain high levels of communication with each other and key stakeholders to ensure key messages are on point and understood by all.
In our research into this model of leadership we found a range of examples where Co-headship and Co-Heads of School offered a proven successful and sustainable model of leadership. In fact a student in one of the case study schools noted that “Two heads are better than one”!
Becoming joint Heads of School will allow us to continue our strong and effective partnership collaboratively pursuing our vision of excellence for MEA, so that our students can become the leaders of tomorrow.
