Obsessed About Attendance
'Every day counts: 97% is your child's target'
As parents, you might think it’s no big deal if my child misses a day here or there during the academic year, or it’s not worth fighting with my child to get them out of bed and make them go to school. At Moor End Academy, we are obsessed with attendance; we believe that outstanding attendance is central to students’ academic achievement and personal development.
One of the most important things your child can do to achieve academic success is also one of the most basic: going to school every day. Missing out on lessons leaves pupils vulnerable to falling behind. In fact, research has shown that your child’s attendance record may be the biggest factor influencing their academic success, as pupils with poor attendance tend to achieve less in both primary and secondary school.
Good attendance habits begin at home with the right messages from parent and carers who by far are the most important influences on their child’s lives and learning. Parent/carers also have a legal duty and responsibility to ensure that their child is educated.
At MEA, we are obsessed with the attendance of every child in our school, as we see it as our personal responsibility to adequately equip every child with the key skills to be successful in their adult life. Let’s work together to ensure your child makes good levels of progress, so they can reach their full potential and let’s work together to ensure your child stays in the ‘Green Zone’.
