Sarah Naylor - Joint Curriculum Leader of PE

Saray Naylor is currently Joint Curriculum Leader of Physical Education at Moor End Academy. She has always had a love for Sport, dancing since the age of 3 and playing Netball since year 7, she still currently plays 3 times per week for Sheffield Tigers Netball Club. Sarah went to Barnsley College and gained her Level 3 BTEC National Diploma qualification in Sport and Exercise Science. Whilst studying at college, she gained several coaching qualifications and worked within local primary and secondary schools delivering PE, Sport and Dance lessons/clubs. Gaining her Level 3 Cheerleading qualification allowed her to become the Head coach for Barnsley’s first ever cheerleading club, The Barnsley Jaguars who had lots of success at National competitions and community performances.

Sarah attended Leeds Metropolitan University and studied a BA (hons) Degree in Physical Education prior to completing her teacher training qualification. After graduating from Sheffield Hallam University with a PGCE in Secondary PE she completed her NQT year at Moor End Academy and quickly progressed to Assistant Head of PE due to taking on additional responsibilities and taking a lead on girls PE. Sarah was in this role for 6 months prior to becoming Joint Curriculum Leader of PE alongside Alex Kalischer.

In addition to her role as Curriculum Leader at Moor End, she has previously taught two days per week in one of our primary feeder schools and has previously taught one day per week in our trust schools to assist with the development and progress of PE lessons. Sarah is passionate about the development of teaching & learning within PE and her wide range of experience, in both primary and secondary schools, has allowed her to take on a lead role for the development of teaching, learning and extra-curricular activities within the PE faculty and implement new strategies and policies providing students with more opportunities for engagement. Being able to provide students with the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of workshops, trips, extra-curricular activities and competitions is a key priority of hers to ensure that they receive the best education and life experiences possible.
